Does CalMePlease Work on Android, Apple Watch or iPad?

Quick answer: CalMePlease is an iPhone app and requires iOS 15 or later. It is not available on Android, and there is no announced release date for an Android version. The App Store listing also offers it for Macs with Apple Silicon (macOS 12 or later) and for Apple Vision; it is not offered for iPad. There is no standalone Apple Watch app, but the app reads steps, workouts and activity from Apple Health, which is where Apple Watch data lands โ€” so a Watch feeds CalMePlease indirectly. Photo, video and voice logging work on any supported iPhone camera and microphone.

iPhone

Requirement: iOS 15 or later. That covers iPhone 6s and newer for iOS 15 itself; devices on iOS 16, 17, 18 and later are all supported. Every feature โ€” photo and video recognition, voice logging in nine languages, barcode scanning, the ten metrics, the AI coach โ€” is designed for iPhone first.

Older iPhones: an iPhone that cannot update to iOS 15 (iPhone 6 and earlier) cannot install the app.

Storage and privacy: meal history, weight and statistics are stored on the phone, not on a server. When you move to a new iPhone, Apple's device-to-device transfer or an iCloud backup is what carries app data across, the same way it does for any app that keeps its data locally.

iPad

The App Store listing does not offer CalMePlease for iPad: the compatibility section names iPhone, iPod touch, Mac and Apple Vision, and iPad is not among them. So it will not appear in App Store search on an iPad, and there is no scaled iPhone-app mode to fall back on.

For most people the iPhone is the device that is at the table, which is where logging happens โ€” and that is where the app is designed to live.

Mac

On Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 and later) running macOS 12 or later, CalMePlease can be installed from the Mac App Store and runs the iPhone interface in a window. Photo logging depends on a camera and voice logging on a microphone, so on a Mac it is most useful for reviewing history and statistics rather than for logging at the table. There is no separate web app โ€” CalMePlease is phone-first by design, because the log happens where the food is.

Apple Vision

The listing also offers the app for Apple Vision (visionOS 1.0 or later), in the same compatibility mode as on the Mac. It is a small audience; it is mentioned here only because the App Store lists it.

Apple Watch

Two separate questions:

Is there a Watch app? No. There is no standalone CalMePlease app on the Watch itself. Logging by photo requires a camera; voice logging on the wrist is a plausible future feature but not a current one.

Does Apple Watch data reach CalMePlease? Yes, through Apple Health. Steps, workouts, active energy and other activity recorded by the Watch are written to Apple Health, and CalMePlease reads activity from Apple Health as one of its ten daily metrics. So a Watch wearer sees their walks and workouts reflected in the app and in the AI coach's advice โ€” a 12,000-step day changes what the coach suggests for dinner. Grant Apple Health permissions during setup or in Settings โ†’ Health โ†’ Data Access & Devices.

Any other tracker that writes to Apple Health โ€” Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Fitbit via their apps โ€” feeds CalMePlease the same way.

Android

CalMePlease is not available on Android, and there is no announced release date. The app is built natively for iOS and Apple Health, which is part of why it is fast on iPhone and why porting it is not trivial.

If you are on Android and want the closest experience:

  • Photo-first logging: Cal AI (now owned by MyFitnessPal) runs on Android; photo scanning requires a subscription.
  • Large database with paid scanning: MyFitnessPal on Android, with Premium for barcode and photo.
  • European database and fasting: Yazio.
  • Micronutrient detail: Cronometer.

None of them tracks fiber, sugar, salt and water as primary metrics with a proactive coach in the way CalMePlease does, which is the gap an Android version would fill. If you want to be notified when that happens, the App Store listing and the CalMePlease website are the places an announcement would appear.

Languages

The app runs in nine languages โ€” English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Russian โ€” and voice logging works natively in each. Language follows your iPhone's system language; change it in Settings โ†’ General โ†’ Language & Region.
